Why we do this
A promise older than the Order itself
In 1882, Blessed Michael McGivney gathered a small group of men in the basement of a New Haven parish. He had watched families fall into poverty when a father died, and he was determined to build something that would not let that happen. Financial protection for widows and children was not an add-on to the Knights of Columbus. It was the reason it was founded.
That same purpose guides us today. When you protect your family through the Order, you are taking part in the oldest work the Knights have ever done, and you are doing it alongside brothers who share your faith.

- Human cloning or embryonic stem cell research
