Monsignor Doyle Council 1186 will hold an Exemplification of Charity, Unity and Fraternity at Sacred Heart Parish on Saturday, November 22, 2025, beginning at about 10:00 a.m., following the 9:00 a.m. Mass. In this ceremony, candidates are formally received as Knights of Columbus. The exemplification presents the lessons of Charity, Unity and Fraternity in a single, prayerful ceremony that replaces the former separate degrees and is intended to help men live these principles more deeply in their families and parish life.

The exemplification itself will take place in the church, with a simple reception in the Hetherington Room afterward.

What to expect

Candidates, their sponsors, and brother Knights attend the 9:00 a.m. Mass, then remain in the church for the exemplification. The ceremony includes prayer, readings and reflections on the principles of charity, unity and fraternity, a presentation of the ideals of the Order, and the formal act by which the candidates become Knights of Columbus. Families may be invited according to council practice so that they can witness the promises being made.

After the ceremony, there will be a brief reception in the Hetherington Room to welcome the new Knights and allow time for fellowship and photos.

How to participate

Participation in this exemplification is arranged through Council 1186:

• Candidates scheduled for this exemplification will receive instructions on dress, arrival time, and any remaining paperwork from their sponsor or from the council membership team.
• Sponsors, brother Knights, and invited family members who plan to attend are asked to coordinate with council leadership so that roles and seating can be arranged appropriately.
