Lectio Divina Invitation: The Healing of Bartimaeus
Scripture Reading: Mark 10:46-52
Theme: Faith, Healing, and Following Jesus
Invitation:
Let us embark on a journey of spiritual reflection through the story of Bartimaeus, a blind man healed by Jesus.
Through the practice of Lectio Divina, we will seek to encounter God’s word and allow it to transform our hearts.
Steps:
-
Lectio (Reading): We will read the passage slowly and attentively, taking turns to read aloud. Pay attention to words or phrases that resonate with you personally.
-
Meditatio (Meditation): Share your thoughts and feelings about the passage. What emotions does it evoke in you? What does it reveal about Jesus, Bartimaeus, or yourself?
-
Contemplatio (Contemplation): Spend a few moments in silent contemplation, allowing the words of the passage to sink into your hearts.
As a group, we will then share our reflections on this time of quiet and consider what God may be calling us to do in response to this passage.
Questions for Reflection:
- What does Bartimaeus’ persistence reveal about his faith?
- How does Jesus’ response to Bartimaeus’ request reflect his compassion and power?
- In what ways can we emulate Bartimaeus’ faith in our own lives?
- How does this story inspire you to follow Jesus more closely?
May this Lectio Divina journey lead us to a deeper understanding of God’s love and a renewed commitment to following Jesus.
Remember: There is no right or wrong way to experience Lectio Divina. Simply allow yourself to be open to God’s word and to the insights that may arise.
