Knights’ Remembrance Prayer

On quiet fields this cold November day,
We bow our heads and gently start to pray.
With poppies bright upon our jackets pinned in place,
We stand as one, remembering in grace.

For we are Knights who gather side by side,
In charity and faith we take our stride.
We honour those who served and bravely fell
By how we live the Gospel that we share well.

They faced the night, the hardship and the fear,
That we might speak God’s name in freedom here.
Their earthly race is run, their watch is done,
We pray that Christ receives each faithful one.

In rosary prayer that helps our hearts align,
In guarded flame before the sacred sign,
In works of mercy quietly begun,
We show our thanks for all that they have done.

Through unity we stand in solemn line,
Through charity our simple acts align,
Fraternity keeps every promise made,
And patriot love walks softly where they rest laid.

So as the bugle’s lonely echoes fade,
And whispered names drift through the poppy glade,
We ask, O Lord, make every Knight of Thine
A man of peace whose life is your clear sign.

Eternal rest, O Lord, on them bestow,
Let perpetual light around them glow.
And as we serve beneath your cross and crown,
Keep every Knight in grace, not glory, bound.

Grant rest, O Christ, to all who bore the price,
Whose hope was joined to your own sacrifice.
Guide us in service, courage, gentle power,
Till swords are plowshares in that final hour.
