Outdoor Stations of the Cross 2025

On Good Friday, April 18, 2025, the faithful gathered once again at St. Mary’s Cathedral for the annual Outdoor Way of the Cross. The prayers, presence, and reverence of all in attendance made this year’s procession a powerful public witness of faith in the heart of our city.

A special note of thanks is due to those who answered the call to serve in the essential work of Traffic Safety. Your efforts were vital to ensuring a safe and prayerful experience for everyone who walked the route.

Whether managing intersections, assisting Calgary Police Services, safeguarding public property, or guiding the procession along its path, your steady and often unseen presence helped maintain the reverent character of the event.

This year’s Way of the Cross was a living expression of the core principles of the Knights of Columbus:

  • Charity, in the selfless commitment to protect and serve the faithful;

  • Unity, in the coordinated efforts of Brother Knights and volunteers working as one;

  • Fraternity, in the shared resolve to support one another and strengthen the community in faith.

The Way of the Cross is more than a tradition—it is a call to discipleship. It invites us to accompany Christ in His suffering and to bear, in our own lives, the daily burdens of love, sacrifice, and service.

As Jesus taught:

“If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me.”
Luke 9:23

May the path we walked together continue to strengthen us in faith, service, and unity.

Vivat Jesus.
